Unvented Initial Course
The Unvented course is designed for plumbers and heating engineers who are currently working within the industry or those who would like to install vented and unvented domestic hot water storage systems to comply with the appropriate building regulations and standards. Completing the Unvented course will enable you to demonstrate competence and either join a competent person scheme allowing the self-certification or notify the local building control before work is completed. The Unvented course covers G3 building regulations and the new requirements for vented and unvented systems.
The Unvented course is open to candidates who have previously completed their unvented course and it has reached its 5-year expiry (re-assessment must be within 12 months), or you hold a Level 2 NVQ in plumbing or Level 3 in plumbing and heating or domestic heating, or can provide evidence several years’ experience in the plumbing and heating industry.
The Unvented course is delivered in 1 day and includes your training and assessments.

This Unvented course is LCL certificated – You do not have to have previously completed your Unvented with LCL to attend this Unvented course.

Course Requirements:
- Over 18
- Minimum a level 2 Plumbing & Heating certification
- 5 years’ experience in the industry (evidence required)
- It is essential that HWSS candidates will be experienced in the installation of cold and hot water systems.
- It is also essential that they hold one DCLG recognised competency in a conventional fuel i.e. gas, oil or solid fuel; or for those in the plumbing field an NVQ level 2 or equivalent plumbing qualification or experience.
- A basic knowledge of the WRAS Water (fittings) Regulations is desirable although this course is available separately. Candidates undertaking the course should be conversant with Approved Document G (ADG) document which can be downloaded from the following link: Part G Building Document 2010
